Safari (version 2) was the default browser with Mac OS X 10.4 at the time of its release in 2005. Chrome/ium dropped ML in mid 2015 and is recently starting to have serious issues. Second choice would be FireFox, who dropped support in mid 2017. Pale Moon is the only browser actively developed on Mountain Lion, even if not officially. From THIS OldVersion site I found and installed a FireFox French version 3.6. latest FireFox browser in French, and this is where I'm having difficulties. Since Mozilla is ending its support for Firefox for Mac OS X 10.6.8 through 10.8.5 by the end of this August, how are you going to continue Waterfox support for these OS X versions, since it seems that Waterfox's core comes from the Mozilla group, directly, and I see your current version of Waterfox for Mac is exactly the same as Mozilla Firefox. This configuration with a highly 'tweaked' FireFox 8.0.2 browser in English (updated from FireFox 10.0.1) worked a treat, and the laptop ran splendidly. Arctic Fox will build for Mac OS X 10.6 and up, Windows XP, i386/x8664/PowerPC Linux, and more than likely any other Unix/BSD varient. While insecure versions of Firefox will continue to work on OS X 10.8 and earlier, using an up-to-date version of Firefox on a supported version of Mac OS will provide you with the best and safest. Note: If you have Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard), you will need to download OS X El Capitan before you can upgrade to the latest Mac OS.
